I find it surprising that the research is a bit dated, or there hasn't been much addition to the research from Virzi and Nielsen in the early 90's to Macefield in 2009. Do you think there is a knowledge gap or these findings are still true today? (decades since the Virzi and Nielsen research)
the findings are still true but there's definitely a knowledge gap. Those studies have a number of limitations (e.g., they use relatively simple usability tasks) which limits their generalisability. We always need more research :)
